How to Delete a Shareholder

When a shareholder exits your company -- whether through a buyback, full share transfer, or a correction -- you can remove them from the Cap Table in Findex. Deleting a shareholder removes their record from the active cap table and recalculates ownership for all remaining shareholders.

How to Delete a Shareholder

  1. Navigate to the Investor Relations Portal from the sidebar.

  2. Open the Cap Table section.

  3. Find the shareholder you want to remove in the list.

  4. Click the Delete option on the shareholder's row (trash icon or context menu).

  5. A confirmation dialog will appear asking you to confirm the deletion.

  6. Click Confirm to remove the shareholder.

The shareholder is removed from your cap table, and ownership percentages for all remaining shareholders recalculate automatically.

What Happens When You Delete a Shareholder?

  • The shareholder's row is permanently removed from the cap table.

  • Ownership percentages for all remaining shareholders recalculate based on the new total share count.

  • If the shareholder had portal access via an email invite, they will no longer be able to view the IR Portal for your company.

  • The deletion does not affect historical records in the Share Ledger -- past transactions involving this shareholder remain intact.

When Should You Delete vs. Edit?

Scenario

Action

Shareholder sold all shares and exited

Delete

Shareholder sold some shares but still holds a position

Edit (reduce share count)

Wrong person was added by mistake

Delete

Share count was entered incorrectly

Edit

If the shareholder still holds any shares, edit their record instead. See How to Edit a Shareholder.

Tips

  • Always double-check before confirming a deletion -- this action removes the shareholder from the active cap table.

  • If a shareholder fully transfers their shares to another existing shareholder, remember to edit the receiving shareholder's share count after deleting the departing one.

  • For audit purposes, record the share transfer in your Share Ledger before deleting the shareholder from the cap table.
