How to Edit a Shareholder
Shareholder details can change over time -- a funding round may adjust share counts, an investor might change category, or you may simply need to correct an entry. Findex makes it easy to update any shareholder's information directly from the Cap Table.

How to Edit a Shareholder
Navigate to the Investor Relations Portal from the sidebar.
Open the Cap Table section.
Find the shareholder you want to edit in the list.
Click on the shareholder's row or select the Edit option (pencil icon or context menu).
Update the fields you need to change:
Share count -- adjust the number of shares held.
Shareholder type -- switch between Founder, Retail, or Institutional.
Click Save to apply your changes.
The cap table will update immediately, and ownership percentages across all shareholders will recalculate in real time.

When Should You Edit a Shareholder?
Common reasons to update a shareholder's record include:
A new funding round changed the number of shares they hold.
A share transfer moved shares from one holder to another (edit both the sender and receiver).
A type correction -- for example, reclassifying an investor from Retail to Institutional.
A data entry fix -- correcting a share count that was entered incorrectly during the initial invite.
What Gets Updated?
When you save your edits:
The shareholder's row in the cap table reflects the new values instantly.
Ownership percentages for all shareholders recalculate automatically based on the updated total share count.
If the shareholder has portal access, they will see their updated position the next time they log in.
Tips
If a shareholder's ownership changes frequently (e.g., during an active funding round), consider updating the cap table after the round closes rather than after every individual transaction.
Keep the Share Ledger in sync with your cap table edits so your transaction history matches current ownership. See How to Setup Share Ledger.
Review your full cap table after making edits to confirm that total shares and percentages look correct.
