Understanding Data Sync Frequency
Once you connect a bank or brokerage to Findex, your portfolio data is kept up to date through regular syncs. Here is how syncing works and what to expect.

How Data Syncing Works
When you connect a provider, Findex establishes a secure link through Finsquid to your bank or brokerage. After the initial import, Findex continues to pull updated data at regular intervals. This keeps your asset values, balances, and holdings current without any action needed on your part.
How Often Does Findex Sync?
Findex syncs your provider data on a regular cycle. This is not real-time -- there is a short delay between changes at your bank and when those changes appear in your Findex portfolio.
Key things to know about sync timing:
Syncs happen automatically -- You do not need to trigger them manually.
Frequency varies -- Sync intervals depend on the provider and data availability, but updates typically happen multiple times per day.
Not real-time -- If you just made a trade or deposit at your bank, it may take some time before the change shows in Findex.
Checking Your Last Sync Time
You can always see when your data was last updated:
Go to Settings > Providers & Integrations.
Find the provider you want to check.
Look at the Last Sync timestamp next to that provider.
[Image: The Providers & Integrations page showing the last sync timestamp for each connected provider]
This tells you exactly when Findex last successfully pulled data from that connection.
What Triggers a Sync?
Scheduled syncs -- Findex automatically syncs on a regular cycle in the background.
Reconnection -- When you reconnect an expired session, a sync is triggered immediately.
New connection -- When you first connect a provider, an initial sync imports all available data right away.
Why Might My Data Look Outdated?
If your portfolio values seem stale, a few things could be at play:
Session expired -- Your provider connection may need re-authentication. Check Settings > Providers & Integrations for status warnings.
Provider delay -- Some banks and brokerages have their own delays in making updated data available.
Sync in progress -- A sync may be underway. Check back in a few minutes.
Tips
Check the last sync timestamp -- This is the quickest way to confirm your data is fresh. Find it in Settings > Providers & Integrations.
Reconnect promptly when sessions expire -- Expired sessions pause syncing entirely. Reconnecting restores the regular sync cycle.
Do not worry about manual refreshes -- Syncing is fully automated. You do not need to do anything to keep your data current.
