How to Import Shareledger

Already have share transaction history sitting in a spreadsheet? You can import it directly into Findex instead of entering each record by hand. This guide covers how to upload your data via CSV or file upload so your ledger is up to date in minutes.

Overview

The Share Ledger import feature lets you bring in historical share transactions from an external source. Whether you are migrating from another platform or simply have records in a spreadsheet, Findex supports CSV and file uploads to make the process as smooth as possible.

Before You Start

  • Make sure your Share Ledger has been set up for your company. If it has not, follow the How to Setup Your Share Ledger guide first.

  • Prepare your data file in CSV format. Each row should represent a single share transaction.

  • Ensure your file includes the required columns: date, transaction type (issuance, transfer, etc.), shareholder name, and number of shares.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Navigate to the IR Portal and select Share Ledger from the sidebar.

  2. Click the Import button at the top of the Share Ledger view.

  3. Choose your import method:

    • CSV Upload -- Select a .csv file from your computer.

    • File Upload -- Upload a supported file format if you have data in another structure.

  4. Map the columns in your file to the corresponding Findex fields (e.g., map your "Date" column to the Transaction Date field).

  5. Review the import preview to verify that your data looks correct. Check for any flagged warnings or errors.

  6. Click Confirm Import to add the transactions to your Share Ledger.

Tips

  • Export a template CSV from Findex before building your import file. This guarantees your columns match the expected format and reduces mapping errors.

  • If your file contains transactions across multiple share classes, make sure a share class column is included so records are categorized correctly.

  • Small errors in the preview (such as date formatting) can usually be corrected before confirming. Review any warnings carefully before proceeding.

  • You can run multiple imports if your data is split across several files. New transactions are appended to the existing ledger.
