Tracking Unlisted Equity Investments
Unlisted equity — like startup investments, private company shares, or direct ownership stakes — doesn't have a public market price. Findex makes it easy to track these investments alongside the rest of your portfolio.

What is Unlisted Equity?
Unlisted equity refers to shares in companies that aren't traded on a public stock exchange. Common examples include:
Angel investments in startups
Private equity holdings
Direct ownership stakes in private companies
Pre-IPO shares
Since there's no live market price, you'll manage valuations manually in Findex.
Adding an Unlisted Equity Investment
Go to Portfolio > Investments.
Click Add Asset.
Select Add Manually.
Choose Unlisted Equity as the asset class.

Fill in the asset details:
Asset Name — The company or investment name.
Quantity — Number of shares you hold.
Invested Amount — How much you've invested in total.
Current Value — Your best estimate of the current value.
Click Save.

Updating Valuations
Since unlisted equity doesn't have automatic pricing, you'll want to update the valuation when new information is available — for example, after a funding round, a valuation report, or an annual update from the company.
Go to Portfolio > Investments.
Click on the unlisted equity asset.
Click Edit to update the current value.
Save your changes.
Your portfolio value and net worth will update automatically.

Investor Relations Assets
If a company you've invested in uses Findex's Investor Relations Portal, they may invite you as a shareholder. In this case, the asset will appear in your portfolio as an IR Asset — meaning the company manages certain details like share count and valuation directly.
See the article What is an IR Asset? for more details.
Tips
Update valuations regularly — Even a rough estimate keeps your net worth and diversification data useful. Update after funding rounds, annual reports, or any significant events.
Add documents — Upload shareholder agreements, term sheets, or valuation reports to the asset's documents tab for easy reference.
Track multiple unlisted investments — Add each one as a separate asset to see how your private portfolio is performing overall.
